Primary Transition & Reading Fluency

Our Reception program is the final stage of early years education at Glowing Ages Academy. It is designed to act as a bridge into formal primary schooling. Here, we build upon phonics foundations to achieve independent reading fluency, structured sentence writing, basic math calculations, and collaborative project exploration.

In Reception, children start visiting our primary digital smart hub for early spatial logic activities, interactive maths puzzles, and basic computer controls, making them fully ready for primary education.

Reading, Phonics & Writing

We guide students into advanced phonics blending, spelling common exception words, and writing complete sentences using correct capitalization, finger-spacing, and punctuation. Pupils engage in short reading books and share story summaries.

  • Reading decodable primary books independently
  • Writing simple paragraphs and personal details
  • Spelling patterns, blends, and basic sight words

Arithmetic & Problem Solving

Mathematics instruction moves into basic operations. Pupils learn addition and subtraction concepts, simple problem solving with visual objects, counting up to 100, and understanding sizes, weights, and basic shapes.

  • Single-digit addition and subtraction operations
  • Skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s
  • Telling time (o'clock) and basic coin values

Early STEM & Digital Hub

Children visit the digital hub once a week, learning how to use mouse/keyboard controls, solve logical coding puzzles (scratch blocks), and participate in basic robotics demonstrations.

  • Mouse control, click, drag, and drop
  • Sequential logic blocks in coding games
  • Guided hands-on science activities
